Eagle EyeEagle Eye after Pablo Neruda
In the reflection I see the moon
In the car, I am moving. The night
without light, the sky, starless.
The air stained like a nicotine tongue.
From my window I can see a subtle island,
a regurgitation of the cosmic god.
Explosion, vivacious opalescence,
a thousand waves, crashing, dancing onto the stars.
Scarcely they ripple into existence
whispers of decadence and mystery fill the world of my mind,
lost inside before. Perfection in a porcelain flame,
they take on figures, twirling about in their vanity,
their eyes opening up galaxies and dreams.
Their wings are a poisoned sunset, eternal.
The color smothered by peach ambient, cleansing.
Their silhouettes are forests
grown from the seeds of life,
and in the light, they're transitioning
returning to the water, as starlit souls.
And here, on empty highway, motion
sickness, in sleepless, silver machine,
the iridescent presence is citric,
supple, tropic, calling ocean rhapsodies.
